This Public Service Announcement (PSA) is about awareness, education and activism to promote body positivity. It aims to address and caution against the prevalent problem of body shaming. The video showcases the negative comments and harsh societal expectations women have to face with regards to their appearance. It touches upon various aspects of body shaming be it so called imperfections like scars, stretch marks, pimples, etc. or the issue of slut shaming i.e judging women negatively for what is deemed “unacceptable” dressing. Other problems discussed under this ambit include the ideal notions of fairness, body shape, height and more. The video highlights how women are judged on parameters of outward looks even though they are so much more than just their bodies. It depicts the potential of each woman to achieve great heights and go beyond the restrictions placed on her by a shallow, superficial “beauty” obsessed society. We wish to give out a message that all our bodies are beautiful and that one should not lose self esteem by giving in to unrealistic standards. The only standards women should aim to meet and beat are of their goals, dreams and aspirations.
